What is involved?

Phase One involves delivering a centrally provided set of core business applications and common set of processes for using these, which underpins IT infrastructure, to all six Central Region District Health Boards.

The programme team is working with a broad range of stakeholders and District Health Board staff, including clinician and administration representatives, as well as IT, finance, project and change managers, and product vendors to configure the latest versions of these projects to meet the region's collective needs. 

The core applications are broken down into delivering the following core projects:


Patient Administration System (PAS)

The PAS manages patient information such as demographics, discharges, theatre bookings, treatments and much more.  

Our role is to design and build in accordance with the Regional Working Groups business requirements.


Clinical Portal

The secure, single access point to all regional applications as they become available.Eventually, using only one log in, hospital staff will be able to view predetermined levels of detail relating to a patient's core health information, clinical documentation, demographics, personal details and shared care record. This will be available 24/7 from anywhere, with approved access.

Our role is to design and build in accordance with the Regional Working Groups business requirements.


Radiology Information System (RIS)

The RIS manages the scheduling of patient radiology studies and contains radiology reports.

Our role is to design and build in accordance with the Regional Working Groups business requirements.


Radiology Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACs Archive)

The PACS Archive stores all x-ray images (studies) so they can easily be accessed from anywhere.

Our role is to design and build in accordance with the Regional Working Groups business requirements.


Central Services Infrastructure (CSI):

The CSI provides the underpinning technology to support the running of these business solutions services across the whole of the central region.
